Jeff is our CFO and the in-house Round Man. Jeff’s favorite thing to do is welcome guests and chat at tables to make sure you are having the best experience with us possible. Jeff loves to tell the story about the journey of opening our doors - make sure you ask him about it!

Sue is the glue that holds this place together. She is our CEO and master of all things customer service. Sue will ensure that your experience is top notch with us whether you are stopping in for takeout or planning an event with us.

Blain is our kick ass Assistant Brewer, master of maintenance, in-house artist, and the oldest Churchill kid. Blain assists Brian with everything from brewing to cleaning to kegging. Connecting our craft beer with customers, expanding our reach & brewing great beer. In addition, almost anywhere you look, you will probably see something that Blain created for us
- including your favorite beer.

Xan Nelson

Commander of cash flow and beer flow.
Xan (short for Alexandria) is the middle sister of the Churchill clan and is the Operations Manager of Round Man Brewing as well as The Dock Coffee (yes, she is very busy at all times). She takes care of all our financials - so we have to be extra nice to her because she signs our checks, keeping logistics, production, & operations running smoothly. You're our favorite, Xan!

Brian is the Brewmaster extraordinaire at Round Man, and he is damn good at it. Oftentimes, you will see Brian tweaking the details of our beer to make them the absolute best when they are served to you. Want to see it for yourself? Kevin is the newest member of our brewing team (and Xan's husband), bringing passion, precision, and a craftsman’s touch to every batch of beer. With a background as a machinist, he’s not only a skilled brewer but also pretty handy to have around when things need fine-tuning.

About Us
Our History
The name Round Man is Jeff Churchill’s old nickname that was given to him by his boss when he was just out of college and working at a golf club. The name Round Man also correlates well with Winston Churchill’s physique.
1980s
Our story begins in the late -1980s when the founding family, Jeff, Sue, Blain, Xan & Spencer Churchill discovered Spooner Wisconsin; first visiting, exploring, vacationing, and ultimately becoming year-round residents and deeply rooted in the community.
2014
We began building our dream, we sold our home in Rochester Minnesota and moved to Spooner permanently. Jeff & Sue opened The Dock Coffee with daughter Xan, whose family also moved to Spooner. When our son Spencer graduated from college, he moved to Spooner and dream number two was born…a brewpub. Next, our son Blain moved to Spooner from San Diego to join in the fun. All three kids employed full time in family business – crazy!
2017
We began our search for the perfect spot for the brewpub in the spring of 2017. Mort Dahl offered the possibility of the historic Dahl’s Home Store becoming the home of Round Man Brewing Co. The building had been in their family for 87 years. Hell yeah! And so began the planning for a 5 barrel brewhouse and a 1500 square foot kitchen. With the help of countless creative contractors, designers, and a hopelessly passionate team, Round Man Brewing Co. began its journey in October 2017.
2024
We added a location a little north of Spooner, in Trego WI. Strongman Smokehouse opened it's doors in 2024 with a focus on solid bbq fare and outdoor recreation. A larger footprint for our RMBC brewing area was a must.
2026
We sold our original Spooner location and brought the whole damn operation north to Trego—combining Round Man Brewing and Strongman Smokehouse into one bigger, better family business: Round Man Brewing & Smokehouse. Now our beer, barbecue, live music, events, catering, and all the people behind them are together under one roof. We’re proud of where we started, fired up about where we’re headed, and fully committed to making this our best chapter yet.
